Paul is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Institute of Directors, and a member of the Market Research Society (MRS) and Academy of Marketing. He was a MRS Diploma Chief Examiner and is currently on the research awards Judges panel for the MRS.

Paul's research has particularly focused on: political marketing, public opinion and propaganda (for governments, special interest groups, companies and political parties); and market segmentation and positioning (for political parties, governments, special interest groups and companies).

Paul's consultancy experience includes marketing research, marketing/PR strategy development for a wide variety of organisations including: a high-profile football club, an aerospace maintenance company, national charities, an advertising agency, and UK Government departments, among others.

Is Executive Director of the Business Research Institute at the University of Chester. He was Dean of University of Chester Business School from 2009 to 2014 and holds the Westminster Chair of Marketing and Public Affairs at the University.

He is a past Chairman of the Marketing Council (UK) PLC, Board member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Professor of Marketing at the University of Otago, New Zealand and Founding Director of the Centre for Corporate and Public Affairs at Manchester Metropolitan University. Prior to becoming an academic he held positions in the international chemical, and foods industries with ICI and RHM.

Phil is regarded internationally as one of the founders of research and theory development in political marketing and strategic public affairs management. His current focus is on China, entrepreneurship, family business and business competitiveness.

Dr Ian Richardson is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Stockholm Business School and a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield University School of Management in the UK. Prior to his doctoral research at Cranfield, which explored power and consensus in transnational elite networks, Ian was a business leader in the magazine publishing and internet sectors.

At the height of the dotcom era, he was Chief Operating Officer of the largest, and most well-funded, internet start-up in Europe and has set up, and managed, a number of pan-European digital information businesses.

More recently, Ian established his own online business and has advised many other organisations within the sector. His multi-disciplinary research interests include business/political collaboration, elite policy networks, global governance, collaborative governance, public affairs etc.
